A few years ago, I went to a friend of my husband's to confide in him about my husband's violence (which by the way I have now got away from). At first, he was great. he didn't seem repelled or overly intimidated by what I had told him at all. He said, 'You've got to get yourself out,' and suggested ways in which I could. We kept up the friendship for a while after I went to him, but then one day he just seemed to change. He stopped replying to emails and calling us. I had stayed with my husband to work through our problems, and at a time when I really needed my friends around me, he just disappeared from our lives. When we did the calling to ask him for a drink, etc. he was normal and nice, but kept saying he couldn't meet today, he was too busy, etc. I was really confused and hurt by the way he just seemed to cut us off. I've asked quite a few people why this might have been, and a few have said of COURSE he couldn't carry on being friends with my husband, but what about me? I hadn't done anything to him, and he knew I needed my friends' support in the state I was in. Why do you think he just cut me off, but was still nice when I took the initiative and called him up myself? I never involved him any more in what was happening with my husband after that one time of telling him - never even mentioned it again to him. He was even fine with my husband for a while after he found out about the violence, but then suddenly just - nothing. What the hell happened?
