[ Gender & Women's Studies ] Open Question : Why do girls lie about how good their boyfriends are in bed?

I just don't understand why a girl would lie about how good her BF was in bed. I am one of the guys who legitimately tries to please his girlfriend. How would I know if I am doing a good job If she is being dishonest about it? What is the benefit of lying to your boyfriend about how good his is in bed? BTW, this has nothing to do with my GF. We actually have a very open and honest relationship.

[ Religion & Spirituality ] Open Question : Christians, why have free speech if free speech created Mormonism and JW's?

In the East, they don't really allow any other religion to be preached except Islam, and maybe Christianity. But in the West, you can preach whatever, and look at the outcome, Mormons, JW's, Scientologist, etc. So isn't that proof that Allah did not condone free speech?

[ Books & Authors ] Open Question : Is the era of books over forever?

My kids find it hard to finish a book. My 7 year old daughter is more diligent than my 10 year old son, but both of them seem to find reading a bit ... well, tiring, would you believe it? My nieces are the same, and lots of parents I know are experiencing the same thing. It doesn't matter how interesting or well-illustrated the book is. They enjoy TV Computer and Playstation games - they read THOSE instructions and dialogues with pleasure, but books? No way. As a child, I LOVED to read - couldn't get enough. Reading story books was never a chore. Is it the attention span? Do words not create images fast enough for children nowadays? Do you think the era of books is well and truly over?

[ Psychology ] Open Question : How do I open up around people? become more extraverted?

I've really never been close to anyone before and never really had any 'best' friends. I'm uncomfortable when people hug me or get to close to me emotionally. Slowly I've made myself one or two closer friends and they're completely honest and open about their problems, fears and what not. They assure me I am a very good 'listener' but I'm concerned they don't know much about who I really am and I'm unsure how to tell them. Sometimes it might seem like I'm pushing my friends away, but I'm not sure what else to do. So, what is the secret to being an extrovert? Sorry for the grammatical typo in the question, it's irritating me.

[ Politics ] Open Question : How can democrats have it both ways?

So who do you believe? I was in Washington DC on Tuesday and got a chance to sit in on the debates of the senate. I was a little surprised that the only ones in the senate during the debates was the speaker and the people in the Gallery, but it was very interesting. One democrat senator from North Dakota said that the republicans didn't offer one suggestion to the banking regulatory legislation. Then about half an hour later, Sen. Dodd, also a democrat, came in and said that the legislation had several republican ideas in it. Which democrat was telling the truth?

[ Singles & Dating ] Open Question : Girlfriend help (LONG)?

Me and this girl have been going out for almost 3 years. We had a kid when we were going out for a year (we were both 16, young, I know). We still live with our parents, the baby stays at her house, for the first 2 years she was one the that worked and pretty much did everything, while still going to school, I didn't have a job because I couldn't find one. On her birthday, I had a soccer game so I didn't go to her birthday, I didn't even get her a present. She broke up with me, the next day she told me she was going on a date with another guy from work, I told her if she did that I would do stuff with other girls, so I had sex with another girl that night and made out with some other girl (she told me she didn't do anything at all with the guy). I told her about it so a few weeks later she ended up going out with the guy from work. I tried to get her back a million times and eventually gave up because she told me to forget about it. This guy took her out to eat and had money to buy her stuff, unlike me. She went out with him for a week and then while going out with him she called me to tell me she missed me and it wasn't the same. When we first started going out I sent her a picture of flowers with her name all over it to her phone, well her bf deleted it so she broke up with him. We got back together and on his birthday on which they were supposed to go out we hung out and had sex and everything. She stopped talking to him completely. She told me all she did with him was that he tried to finger her but after a few seconds she pulled his hand off her. A few months later I find out that she kissed someone else without even telling me (not while going out with me but before going out with the other guy). I know a kiss is not a big deal but it just bothered me that she didn't tell me about it. The next day she bought me FIFA 10, it was a $60 video game and said sorry about everything and thats the only thing she's kept from me. Well after all that I got a job and everything is sorted out good but sometimes I get the feeling she's done more than what she's told me. I still feel betrayed because she went out with someone else. Should I just forget all about it?? Am I worring for something stupid?? She's not the type of girl who likes to do stuff. I'm the first and only guy to ever do stuff with her, and at school everyone told me how much she liked me, and she still turns me down sometimes. Were still going out but all this stuff bothers me sometimes. Any advice??

[ Dream Interpretation ] Open Question : What does my dream mean?

Last night,I had a dream that I was in my grandma's neighborhood playing with my cousin,I was younger in the dream like 5 to 7 years old.I noticed a fire starting in her yard and spreading to her house. So,I remember going into the house and telling her to leave so she immediately gets up and she walks out of the house dragging my father out by his arms.My dad wanted to stay in because in the dream he was diagnosed with some form of cancer. He said the fire would have been easier on him. So,we all survive the fire and time changes to the present. My dad is about to die to cancer, and I tell him not to that he needs to live one more day for me.So,he does it and he goes about his day normally. I remember breaking down crying in the dream, because my dad was deteriorated physically,he didn't have the same demeanor I am used to seeing in him.He just seemed worn out and tired. Now a side note to the dream,my Grandma that appeared in this dream has been dead for a few years now and she died from cancer like my dad was dying from in my dream. Could anyone tell me what this might mean? Because this really made me think. Thank you :)

[ Other - Home & Garden ] Open Question : How do I keep the color in pressed leaves & flowers?

About a year ago, my stepfather helped me make a flower presser. I made it correctly, I'm sure of that. I pressed a bunch of flowers in the spring and summer, and when fall came around, I pressed some leaves that had changed nice colors. They all came out beautiful, and I put them in a photo album. Now, roughly a year and a half later, most of the plants I pressed lost or are losing their color! I'm really upset about it because the plants are not as pretty as they were when they first came out of the presser. Am I doing anything wrong? Is the color fading just a natural thing? Or is it because of the photo album? I don't know... Can anyone tell me a way to preserve the color while keeping their natural appearance? Thanks so much!

[ Singles & Dating ] Open Question : Why do men/women go for the hotter but evil person?

I was talking today with someone who I dated several months ago. When we went on dates, we connected very well. But sadly he called and said he found someone who he "connected more with". Respecting his new found relationship, I let it go and just move on. Today he IMs me and told me he and that girl are over. Thank goodness he didn't go and say that he wanted to try again because the answer would've been no as I know there's better people out there. After talking a few, he finally told me the reason why we didn't work out. Simply put... personality I would've been the one, but physically was not since I was overweight. The girl he dated fits his physical criteria but would eventually turn into an emotional psycho to him, treated him badly. Why is it that people always go for the better looking but very mean over the average Joe/Jane and have the better personality? I mean in my case, I have a career, a house, no children, good moral values, and yet the only thing standing in the way is my body? It's not like I'm 300 pounds and 5'2" (I'm 5'8" and just over 200... I used to been at my smallest 160, which is small on my body). At least I am working out and trying to be healthy for myself. Plus guys always say I have a pretty/cute face. I know women do the same thing (I was guilty of that in the past) but why is that? Can there be a middle balance to this? :-\
